INFJs,
I have been wondering what you all think of this new craze of text messaging/ email language. To be honest, it pisses me off. I have seen it used in our conversations here in the INFJ tribe, but not often. I thank you all for that. I like having conversations with INFJs on the computer because I understand all of the language and you are all generally not falling for this new craze of text messaging language.
What are your thoughts on such language? Is it useful or not? Is it annoying or not? Share.

Re: Text messaging language
Sat, July 18, 2009 - 1:23 PMI don't text message enough to have learned the language. But do use some shortcuts like U and R because it's faster. Not generally real big on buzz word shortcuts like 24/7 or 'mybad' etc. because my mind wants to relate exactly to what a person means. I guess I'm more letter of the word - say exactly what you mean - not spirit of the word (saves time when you are already trying to figure out the energy of the whole conversation). I've found that more of my extroverted friends use shortcut style of communication as they aren't as concerned if others understand them as much as they just need to let it out.
Have an extroverted, Type-A sister who actually accidentally leaves out whole words and you have to try to figure out what she meant so in her case I'd rather have the text message lingo (fast enough for her and I could probably figure it out easier).

Re: Text messaging language
Sat, July 18, 2009 - 9:42 PMI hate texting shorthand for the most part. Is U or R really that short? What' are two more letters, really?? A couple that I use pretty regularly are btw and tmw. I'll shorthand if necessary if my text doesn't fit into the 160 character allotment! But I have a full keyboard on my phone and unlimited texts. :o) I've spoiled myself on the extras because of my discomfort in using the phone for it's core purpose. (Telephobia's a real disorder!)
