Re: Elizabeth Gilbert: A different way to think about creative genius
Wed, February 11, 2009 - 8:40 AMThank you so much for sharing this. It was indeed very inspiring and playful!
I like the aspect of just showing up and doing your work, because many of us can get far too caught up in the drama of how it will it turn out. And in actuality it seems that the power of creativity is in the process - the power of the now moment - not in the future result.
When we can align fully in that moment perhaps we do allow something deeper to channel through us. Maybe it is the genius/damon or maybe simply the lining up with a larger part of who we are in connection with the Tao 道 - one and the same?

Re: Elizabeth Gilbert: A different way to think about creative genius
Wed, February 11, 2009 - 8:49 PMI used to be very disheartened that I no longer lived in NYC, and then I found TED and now I don't feel that the best and the brightest ideas are beyond my reach. Magical.
Speaking of the whole daimon thing, of course we know this even today, it now masquerades as the higherself, oversoul, and/or gaurdian angel. Elizabeth Gilbert is such an exceptional light for taking all of the pressure off of the person, getting the internal critic out of the way, so that we can then create as we did when we were children--only then we called it play.
Thank you so much for this clip, I feel like my I.Q. just jumped 7 points from the stimulation, but it's probably my genius, or as Aladdin would say, genii.
