ST's

I recently read a blog post of a self-identified "extrovert" venting about introverted types.
Being a INFJ with a very strong I and J (about 90% on the Meyers Briggs long version), I find it hard to deal with ST types, particularly T (thinking types).
Would other INF's care to share their thoughts about ST's?

I don't know very many self-identified STs (or people who know their type at all), and I have a hard time typing people, but I find T characterstics difficult to be around. I joke that I like people who give me the "warm and fuzzies". Sometimes I wonder if I'm more of a T versus an F, but then whenever I'm around people who seem to exhibit strong T traits I usually either look on with silent bewilderment or just want to run the other way - have them stop talking, essentially. I appreciate sensitivity in people.

S types... this one's a bit more difficult for me to comment on because I'm not sure what in behaviour constitutes an S. But I like depth in people, and an ability to expand their horizons through discussion and thought. If I can't get that from someone, I'm bound to feel limited in our interactions.

I do know one person who tested as an ST, and I absolutely don't like thinking about her because of how uncomfortable I feel whenever I hear her speak. It's not easy for me to pinpoint exactly what it is, but learning about her approach to things makes me feel not good. If people with ST are similar to her - in whatever way the ST is shared, then I wouldn't enjoy being around them very much.

Nettle, in what ways do you find it hard to deal with STs?

      Thank you for your input.
My perception of ST's (sensing/thinking types) is that they are very quantitative, calculated, and materialistic. Things have to be very tangible for them and they tend to be more oriented towards an intellectual view of things-maybe cerebral is a better word.
I border on S (sensing) and I (intuitive). Sensing types (to me) seem to be concerned with the material. I knew one self-identified "sensing" "thinking" type tell me he could tell how many sheets of paper were in a pile by feeling it with his hands.
They seem (again to me) to have a hard time with more abstract types of thinking and not concerned with emotions, maybe because they don't value their own.
Not very good at "gut" level things.
      For starters.
I could go on. I admit, I have issues with Sensing/Thinking types-just trying to get a check with other NF's about their individuals perceptions.

I can relate to your problems with STs to some extent, becuase my boss and my sister's boyfriend are both ISTJs - (my opinion, not official MBTI result) I find them to be a bit like little robots. In both cases they are nice guys, but I find them incredibly dull, and dealing with them is hard work. My boss seems to follow procedures to the letter and dismissed any thing remotely social (team meetings, birthday drinks) as being a distraction from work. My sister's bf seems to have learned a set of rules about what is expected of him in conversation, and he follows them absolutely. So on the surface he's very polite and doesn't do anything wrong, but he just shows such a remarkable lack of passion, imagination or enthusiasm that I lose interest very quickly. Anyway it could just be ISTJs, or maybe it is more applicable to STs in general....

My boyfriend is an ISTJ...I still have no idea how we work together! I agree with all of the above...but he's so grounded and practical, it really helps me be realistic about things. It is definitely maddening sometimes that I can't switch topics in conversation without him following. He's VERY methodical and not at all abstract, so he finds my thought process fascinating, although kind of erratic.

I don't know much about ST's, but if they're anything like STD's then I would like to stay the hell away from them.
