What types of books do you like to read or movies do you like to watch?
What about them really draws you in?
I like character development and personal relationships. I get attached to the characters so I like to see them triumph and overcome. I love meaning and depth in books and movies, and I also love to laugh - but the comedy has to be non-offensive to my values.
As for books, lately it has been chick-lits, metaphysical subjects, and personal development (self-help/personal growth) genres. I also love children's literature and am starting to branch out to fantasy. But I'm pretty much open with other types of fiction except mystery and horror.

Re: What types of books/movies do you enjoy and why?
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 4:01 PMSame as you, I like books and movies with character development and personal relationships. I enjoy hidden meanings and implied messages(like you, not offensive to my personal values). Laughing is always good too, I am always laughing and I love to watch comedies. My favorite for sure though is fantasy and hypothetical what-if or what-could-happen or could-be-true stuff. I love to think about what it would be like in different eras or worlds so I'm definitely drawn to movies like Lord of the Rings, Princess Bride, Star wars, Groundhog day, Planet of the apes etc.

Re: What types of books/movies do you enjoy and why?
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 4:54 PMI love comedies and old time classic movies. I'm a big fan of Jimmy Stewart, Myrna Loy, Rosalind Russell, Cary Grant, etc... and don't care much for today's actors except for Johnny Depp. I just don't feel people have real talent to act anymore. For comedies, my taste varies, but you won't find me watching something like "American Pie". I will also watch romantic movies as long as there is a good plot and it isn't all mush. I tend to watch British movies on the public TV channel here. I do watch a lot of British comedies, too.
Types of books I read are usually self improvement or about the paranormal
