Enneagram and INFJ

Hi all,
After taking numerous classes and sitting on panels, over the years, I've found that I feel most comfortable around two particular enneagram types - 9 and 5. I am an enneagram 9 and an Empath and took a few tests and came out dead on for INFJ. I was wondering if anyone else saw a connection between your enneagram type and being an INFJ?

The biggest challenges I have are with enneagram 8 and 3 (Both intense but an 8 is physically/energetically loud and 3's can be type A loud) The 5's are intellectual, quieter and not focused so much on emotion so for an INFJ/empath we don't pick up as much free floating emotionally-charged vibes from them. 9's are usually too busy picking up everyone's stuff and repressing or creating calm (even if they are a basket case inside) that one usually feels calm around them.

Yes, I can see how one could get high numbers on all three of those - they are the three types I would associate most with INFJ except maybe some 2's.

5 & 9's both really like their internal time and 4s & 9s both often connect deeply with others. A big difference I see in the 4 and 9's - when imbalanced - is the strong desire for a 9 to try to dampen down emotions of self and others - especially anger. Whereas a 4 tends to express more emotionally - sometimes dramatically. Although, as we grow in life we open more toward balance, no matter what our type is.

Plus most 9's on the panels I sat on felt emotions first through their physical body and amazingly, when asked where they noticed emotion first they all put their hands on their solar plexus. When a 9 expresses emotionally they have usually let it build up for awhile (days/month/years) whereas a 4 generally express stronger emotion daily.

      Interesting. I'm a 2, but I also scored highly on 1, 5, and 9.

That makes sense, Analyst. A two could have a one wing and 2's and 9's both have a desire to assist although they have a different reason for it. As for the 5 being high, I don't know what that ties into but do know that as a 9 with a strong 1 wing I also test high on 5. I wonder if it is the 1 influence in both of ours?

I just took the test online an came out a screaming 4 (score of 12) with a 2 (score of 5) as the only other positive value. I'm not sure what that means since I haven't really done a lot of research on the subject but the brief descriptions seem fairly accurate.

**"..came out a screaming 4!"** LOl, well, often 4's are known for a wonderful sense of the dramatic so makes sense that you didn't lazily slink into 4 ;)

Ah, so we have three people who resonate with the personality of 4, one 9 and a 2. Interesting. 2 and 4 are feeling - heart/emotion types and 9 is also a feeling type but more of a physical feeling. No head types as of yet.. So far it is looking like INFJs are an "I feel" rather then an "I think" group.

I am Type 6 with 5 wing. I also like types 9 & 5, but also feel very comfortable with type 1 & 2. My least comfortable would be type 7 because they are intense and energetic but also a bit superficial at times.
